Day 2 of #ChallengePoverty Week, and today's blog contribution is from RSABI, a charity that provides and sources effective practical, emotional and financial support for those in need involved in the agricultural industry in Scotland and their families.

Picture2RSABI provides practical, emotional and financial support to all people involved in the Scottish agricultural industry. The service is available to those currently, and previously, involved in farming, crofting and occupations involved in agriculture in Scotland. This year, RSABI celebrates its 125th anniversary, having been set up in 1897 to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.

Our financial support can be for essential items including food, heating, counselling, disability aids, funerals, retraining and items for the home such as white goods and furnishings. A simple financial statement will be completed by one of the Case Officers, although this is not required for counselling. RSABI also provides regular financial assistance to those who are unable to work due to age, accident, ill-health, or disability.

RSABI’s team of staff and volunteers understand the challenges involved in agriculture, and you’ll find them to be friendly and professional.

The agricultural industry is facing many challenges, and we know that many are worried about the general rising cost of living. If you’re finding things difficult, and need some support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with RSABI. All support is completely confidential and we’re here to help.

The local Case Officer for North-East Scotland is Shona Milne, and she can be contacted either by calling the Helpline on 0808 1234 555 or emailing shona.milne@rsabi.org.uk. Shona will be happy to discuss support that may be available.
