    VW Blog awards

Across Aberdeenshire this week volunteers are being acknowledged and thanked as we realise just how much they do and the difference they make to so many. They themselves are probably wondering what the fuss is about as they go about what they do best. But they deserve all the fuss and much more. One of my best work experiences came when I was a surprise guest at a meeting of volunteers and was there to present volunteering awards to individuals who had done so much to help a befriending group. The fact that it was a surprise added to the fairly emotional impact of the awards I was presenting, never again have I underestimated the effect that a certificate can have.

Awards are in the air this week!

This volunteer week I’m delighted to see so much being said and shared about volunteer’s contributions and achievements; three voluntary groups have been awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service and nearly 30 finalists have been named in the 9 Inspiring Aberdeenshire Award categories – we’ll know who wins at the finals event in August. Sincere and hearty congratulations to all involved.

AVA can help groups and organisations with our own awards, it will always be a pleasure to help local groups and organisation to acknowledge their volunteer’s contributions. We have an award for everyone; here's how we can help:

iVolunteer logo_smalliVolunteer – for younger volunteers aged between 5 and 11. This is an accumulative award starting with a Bronze Award when 10 hours are achieved reaching a Platinum Award for 100+ hours. This award has been popular in primary schools and is a great way of introducing youngsters to the benefits of volunteering.

Saltire logo smallSaltire Awards – we facilitate the Saltire Awards on behalf of the Scottish Government for volunteers between the ages of 12 and 25. The awards start with the Challenge at 10 hours and build to the achievement of the Summit Award for 200+ hours.

AVA Logo 2019_smallAVA Awards – our own award scheme for adults in Aberdeenshire aged 16+. Certificates are issued for achievements up to 5 years and then metal pin badges for 5, 10, 15 and Lifetime achievements. We can also help with bespoke individual awards if a groups wants to acknowledge a particular achievement.

All of our awards are free, there are no costs and if we can, we will come along and provide the cake! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you think we can help or you would like more information about our awards schemes.
